Mel A. Gunawardena, CEO
Mel Gunawardena is a founder and CEO of MediGain, Inc. Mel brings with him over 15 years of international management, business process outsourcing, and consulting experience from multiple industries into the healthcare industry. Prior to MediGain, he was the Director of Customer Relationship Management and IT Strategy at Verizon. Before Verizon, he was a founding member of Vonova Corporation, a VOIP telecommunications startup, where he was the Director of International Business Development. Mel also held management positions at American Airlines, Sabre, and JCPenney Corporation, where he lead business process reengineering and outsourcing implementations around the world. Mel is a native of Sri Lanka and holds a Sloan Executive Masters in Management from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
Hunter Howard, President and COO
Hunter is a founder and President of MediGain, Inc. Hunter has over 15 years of experience in international marketing, operations and business process outsourcing. Prior to MediGain, he held various management positions at the Dell Computer Corporation in corporate marketing, Chinese market strategies and outsourcing strategies. Hunter previously worked at FedEx. He earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and a BA from Southern Methodist University.
Stephen Krim , VP of Sales
Stephen Krim brings more than 20 years of experience of healthcare sales, marketing, and business development to MediGain. He has worked closely with physicians in private practice, medical clinics, ASC�s, Rehab facilities, regional tertiary hospitals including several University Teaching institutions. Prior to joining MediGain, he directed the efforts of diverse sales teams successful in implementing Practice Management, Revenue Cycle Management, EMR and HIS/RIS solutions at multiple sites. Mr. Krim holds a BSBA degree from the University of Arkansas and has a deep understanding of the healthcare enterprise spending most of the last decade focused on the technology sector
Brett Walker, US Director of Operations and Training
Brett Walker has been in the healthcare field for more than 12 years specializing in medical billing and revenue cycle management, administrating and optimizing large Central Billing Offices throughout the healthcare field. Mr. Walker has been involved in revenue cycle management for large CBO organizations, both locally and nationally, prior to founding MediGain. He has served as CBO Manager for organizations such as Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Kimberly/Olsten Infusion’s West Coast CBO, and Rotech in the DME industry. During his tenure at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas Mr. Walker was part of the introduction and coordination of Medicaid Managed Care Plans and SCHIP plans to the state of Texas. His knowledge and expertise in working with these types of programs in other states such as California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada was used to facilitate strong relationships between payers and providers and the OIG in the state of Texas. His experience in CBO billing and collections in over 30 states in multiple specialties which include Hospital, Physician Offices, Infusion, DME, FQHC, ASC, Nursing, and Ambulance services. Mr. Walker spent two and half years working in Colombo, Sri Lanka hiring, training, launching, and managing the overseas CBO operations of Medigain. Mr. Walker currently facilitates the revenue cycle management efforts between the U.S. and the overseas operations. Mr. Walker’s proven track record in Revenue Cycle Management, Training and Leadership Development, and facilitating Client Resolutions have resulted in the following gains in every organization he has worked with:

- Best billing practices increasing the cash flow average by 20%
- Denial Tracking Management reducing denials to 4-5%
- Aged Receivables in the top 95% nationally
- Payer-Provider claims resolution reducing the payment lags on claims by 20-30%
Denver Fernando, Sri Lankan Senior Operations Manager
Denver has over 7 years experience in business process outsourcing and call center management with 4 years of healthcare industry experience overseeing billing, collections and training efforts in our central billing office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Denver earned a BSc (Honors) in Technology Management and Computing from University of Portsmouth, UK.
Gregory Blankenship, Billing and Collections Consultant
12 years of experience in health care revenue cycle management with various specialty services including hospital, physician, surgical, laboratory, nursing, pharmacy/infusion, and DME. Specializing in collections management and billing operation improvement strategies. Greg previously served as a Director of Training & Operations for MediGain. He is currently a consultant for MediGain providing client back-office efficiency recommendations.
